Clearly, the weekends follow one another but are not the same for the Monegasque. Sixth at Imola after an unfortunate spin, Charles Leclerc resumes his march forward, winning a new pole position in Miami, his twelfth career. A boon for the pilot Ferrari, while its direct competitor in the championship, Max Verstappen, is “only” third on the starting grid.
“I made a big mistake” at Imola
Despite the impressive pace of Red Bull in Italy, Charles Leclerc was certainly able to achieve a new podium. But a mistake, a few laps from the end of the race, cost him big points in the title race. Two weeks later, the Monegasque has apparently already made people forget this blunder, by signing a new pole position, ahead of his teammate Carlos Sainz.
“The last weekend [in Imola] was not great for me, I made a big mistake, assumes Charles Leclerc at the finish of the qualifying session for the Miami Grand Prix. But today everything went well. We will start from pole position tomorrow, we will have to finish the job. »

Finish the job, and conclude a good weekend for Ferrari, while Verstappen was a success on the grounds of the Italian team, precisely, two weeks ago (34 points, the victory, the best lap in the race and the Sprint Race points). Meanwhile, the Reds continued their poor performances, after Sainz's retirement at the start of the race, and Leclerc's exit from the track at the end of the Grand Prix.
Although both are on the front row again this Sunday, they will have a lot to do against the formidable Red Bull, whose top speed will certainly be their main asset.
“The Red Bulls are extremely fast in a straight line, we are fast in the corners, explains the Monegasque, lucid. It will be a very interesting challenge, but also very tight. I hope we will be in the lead at the finish. »
With a 37-point lead in the championship over Verstappen, Leclerc still has time to see it coming. But in the quest for a world champion title, there are opportunities not to be missed. Miami is undoubtedly one of them. No doubt about it.
