The story between Charles Leclerc And Ferrari is far from finished. The Italian team announced this Wednesday, June 3, on the eve of the Monaco Grand Prix, the extension of the Monegasque driver's contract, who will continue to wear the colors of the Team for the upcoming seasons of the world championship Formula 1The Italian manufacturer did not specify the expiry date of this new contract.
Having joined the Ferrari Driver Academy in 2016, Charles Leclerc has maintained a privileged relationship with the Maranello-based manufacturer for the past ten years. Crowned champion of Formula 2 In 2017 before making his Formula 1 debut the following year with Sauber, the Monegasque joined the Ferrari team in 2019 and gradually established himself as one of its pillars.
At 28, Leclerc is already among the most influential drivers in Scuderia history, being the second most experienced Ferrari driver in Formula 1 with 155 Grands Prix, behind Michael Schumacher (180). He also occupies second place in the team's pole position ranking with 27 pole positions, still behind the German (58).

« I couldn't be happier to continue this adventure with Ferrari. Charles Leclerc is delighted. This team has always represented much more than just a structure to me. It's the team I loved and dreamed of being a part of since my childhood, and after all these years, it has become a second family.
Together, we have experienced incredible moments as well as more difficult periods, but I believe in this team more than ever. I am deeply grateful that we continue to move forward side by side towards our common goal: bringing the world title back to Maranello.
Being a Ferrari driver is a dream, but it's also a responsibility I never take lightly. I will continue to give absolutely everything I have to bring this team back to where it belongs, right at the top, for everyone who works in Maranello and, above all, for the tifosi, whose passion is the beating heart of this Scuderia. »

« Charles has been part of the Ferrari family for many years now, and this extension seems perfectly natural to us. adds Frédéric Vasseur, director of the Ferrari team.
Over the seasons, we have seen him grow to become not only one of the most successful drivers in Formula 1, but also a person totally in tune with the team and everything that Ferrari represents.
We appreciate his talent, we admire his determination and his way of approaching each day alongside the members of Scuderia, both on and off the track.
We know how much this project means to him and we are happy to continue working together towards achieving our common goals. »
Charles Leclerc hopes to celebrate this extension with a victory in the streets of the Principality this Sunday, June 7th.

Leclerc doesn't seem to be one of those drivers who gave the Scuderia a decisive boost like Lauda or Schumacher. Truly ambitious drivers let their teams wait to put pressure on them. Signing now is too soon. And if one day the Italian dream of seeing Antonelli in red becomes a reality, he'll have been the butt of the joke.

Good news for Scuderia Ferrari & Charles… It seems logical, and I agree with Lucas & Yves-Henri, but if Charles really wants to become world champion one day…? I have my doubts. He has obvious talent, but I'm sticking with my information coming from the Netherlands 🇳🇱… in July, information should be released concerning… Max, Ferrari…!!!! or Mercedes… or simply Red Bull Racing with Ford, and the Hypercar project and Le Mans 2027 ‼️ We'll see… Have a great day everyone. 😎👀👍 alainkf1@pt.lu

A contract extension at Ferrari...yes, if Hamilton leaves at the end of this season, to bring in, for example, Bearman, to develop him for the future... It would cost the Maranello boss less and would therefore help with future development, because let's not kid ourselves, things aren't going well at Scuderia right now, and Lewis's second place in Montreal was thanks to the stupidity of McLaren and George's breakdown. So, Lewis, brandishing his trophy in front of the crowd as if he'd won (pathetic), would have finished 6th, which is normal for today's Ferraris :):):)

With the top teams already equipped, being the leader is the best solution for him. It remains to be seen if Ferrari can (re)turn to the forefront and realistically contend for the championship. The years go by...

It remains to be seen if this is really the right choice for the Monegasque, as he is 28 years old and still not crowned World Champion!

He will therefore never be World Champion in F1. A shame, but if he's happy this way, good for him.
