Charles Leclerc: “Without doubt the race where I had the most fun”

Behind the untouchables Mercedes this Sunday, the fight for the last step of the podium will have been intense between Ferrari et Red Bull. Alternately, Charles Leclerc, Max Verstappen et Sebastian Vettel had the opportunity to move into the top 3, before Verstappen seemed the best placed.

But a collision caused by Sebastian Vettel made the Dutchman lose everything, Charles Leclerc taking advantage after getting rid of Pierre Gasly. Constantly battling with the two RB15s throughout the event, Leclerc clearly animated the race, particularly in his duel with Max Verstappen.

“The last race opened my eyes by showing me how far we can go, underlines the former Sauber driver. It’s good to be able to fight to the limit. This is undoubtedly the race where I had the most fun in my career in F1.

It’s good to finish 3rd but it was difficult today. On the first two stints, we were not where we wanted to be. On the hard tires we were strong, but unfortunately with the safety car we lost positions. »

Ferrari had in fact decided to immediately stop Sebastian Vettel as soon as the safety car was in place, deployed to evacuate the car by Antonio Giovinazzi from the gravel trap. Returning to the pits a lap later, Leclerc found himself behind the two Red Bulls, forcing him to make another comeback.
