Although he certainly got the best start from the grid when the lights went out, Charles Leclerc Finishing third in this Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka was by no means guaranteed. Among the drivers somewhat caught out by the safety car deployment following Oliver Bearman's accident, the Monegasque driver remained unfazed, even demonstrating his ability to shine with daring overtakes on Lewis Hamilton or George Russell, to name just a few.
"I broke a bit of a sweat during this race," he remarked ironically when taking stock"We were unlucky with the safety car. I knew I'd be behind Kimi and Lewis, but I quickly told myself I had to push, and I also had to try and make my tires last. It wasn't as big a disadvantage as I thought. We only lost a few positions, but it was a fun race. It wasn't enough to catch Oscar, but it was a good race."
Third indeed, Charles Leclerc almost thought he could catch the driver McLaren ahead of him. Ferrari isn't that far away! He's right, it'll all come down to development, but that's not usually the Scuderia's strong point! It's going to be a long road to Miami!
