Everything changed on the 12th lap, when the Race Direction introduced the Virtual Safety Car (VSC) to evacuate theAston Martin de Sebastian Vettel. The red strategists called back the leader of the event to change tires while losing as little time as possible.

“I think the performance was good, said Charles Leclerc at the microphone of Canal +. With ifs, we could have done a lot of things, it's easy to say in hindsight. Unfortunately, when we returned, the VSC was gone. The VSC advantage was therefore greatly negated, and from then on the race was complicated. I tried to attack, but it wasn't enough. »

Above all, Max Verstappen was too fast for him! “Max was six or seven tenths faster than us. I think he would have come back to me pretty quickly because he was too close after the VSC. »

Charles Leclerc fought unsuccessfully, but could have benefited from the Safety Car at the end of the effort to make a final attack. This meant counting without the Race Direction, who left the safety car on the track until the checkered flag was lowered, whereas according to the Francophone, the McLaren de Daniel Ricciardo was already pushed off the track.

“I didn't quite understand the end of the race. For me, there was no reason to do one last lap under Safety-Car. I don't know if it was any clearer to the viewers. »
