While his teammate Giedo Van der Garde particularly distinguished himself in Belgium, the Frenchman from Caterham was less fortunate. He hopes to bounce back in Italy.

Charles Pic wants to fight against bad luck at Monza

It will be a matter of quickly turning the page on the Belgian Grand Prix. Charles Pic, who was not very successful at Spa-Francorchamps, is already leaning towards the next round, at Monza, in Italy. “It?s a great place to run Formula 1, judges the Caterham driver. It?s so fast and the atmosphere is great, even though it?s almost all fans Ferrari over there ! It is a circuit which has a lot of history, which we can see thanks to the old bank next to the track and which reminds us of what it was like before. »

It must be said that the Drôme driver did not have an easy weekend during the last meeting, qualifying last in qualifying when his teammate Giedo Van der Garde managed to climb into Q2, in the same way as rival Marussia, before having to retire very early in the race due to an oil leak in the engine, Charles Pic will be keen to leave the Old Continent on a better note. “This is our last race in Europe and it would be good to end the European season in a positive way. We had strong performances during free practice at Spa but we were unlucky during Q1 and with the oil leak during the race so Monza will give us the opportunity to move forward and put this bad luck behind us. »

With this in mind, the French driver is working hard in his team's factory. “I'm in the simulator at Leafield (in Great Britain, Editor’s note) before we arrive at Monza, so we will have the opportunity to try several setting options before arriving on the track. » On the fastest circuit of the season, the objective is clearly defined: “We will work on the low downforce package to find a setup that gives us maximum straight-line speed and a car that we can really attack the curbs with. »
