Chase Carey had left his post as CEO of the Formula 1 in January 2021. He was replaced by Stefano Domenicali who has been leading the premier category of motorsport since then.
The 71-year-old will make his return to the microcosm of Formula 1 since Liberty Media, the championship promoter, has announced that the native of Dublin (Ireland) will join its board of directors from January 1, 2025. The former 21st Century Fox will thus be able to bring all his expertise to his successor.
« Chase has been a great partner to Liberty for many years, from our investment in DIRECTV in 2008 through Liberty’s purchase of Formula 1 in 2017, where his role as Chairman and CEO was critical in securing the acquisition. He has been instrumental in building a successful foundation in F1 from which the company has grown materially, said John Malone, president of Liberty Media. Chase's knowledge and expertise in media, entertainment, sports, business and more will be invaluable to the Board as our companies execute on their next chapters of growth and value creation. »
This announcement follows the departure of Greg Maffei, Chairman and CEO of Liberty Media, at the end of the current year.

It smells like a backstage score-settling. These megalomaniacs act against the interests of the structures they are in because they are so egocentric. I snicker in advance at what this will produce.
