After missing each other in the Sprint Qualifying, the drivers McLaren set the record straight when it came to defining the starting grid for the Chinese Grand Prix. Lando Norris was expected, but it's his teammate Oscar piastri who won the day by securing his very first pole position in F1The Australian will be joined on the front row by George Russell, who had a superb lap at the very end of Q3 which allowed him to climb to a position that his Mercedes did not seem able to reach until then.
On the other hand, the Ferrari were more discreet. Behind Norris and Verstappen, second-line partners, Lewis Hamilton et Charles Leclerc will find themselves in third place on the starting grid. The Briton once again beat his teammate, who nevertheless closed in on his garage neighbor after struggling to keep up since the start of the weekend.
Hadjar beats Tsunoda in every segment
Racing Bulls confirmed their weekend form with a magnificent qualifying performance: Isack Hadjar took second place in Q1, just ahead of his teammate Yuki tsunodaUnlike Friday, where the Frenchman stopped in the second segment of qualifying, this time he reached Q3 for the first time in his young Formula 1 career. Finally 7th, Hadjar beat Tsunoda on each of his laps: an impressive performance which definitively banishes the spectre of Melbourne.
The new brilliant performance of the single-seaters of Faenza makes Liam Lawson's even more disappointing. The New Zealander once again finished last in qualifying, just like on Friday. His third consecutive Q1 elimination with Red Bull is starting to pose a serious problem, especially as his confidence is crumbling rapidly.
Pierre Gasly also stopped again in Q1. "Unfortunately, we're a bit lacking in performance. We'll have to try to work on it." he whispers to Canal+, while his teammate Jack Doohan was also quickly eliminated. The Australian made a mistake in the opening minutes, which will not help him forget his difficult start to the weekend.

Yes, it's going well with Hadjar...we'll see that in the race tomorrow. Don't forget that in the sprint race Hadjar only finished 13th while Tsunoda took points with a nice 6th place.
