Expected since the Chinese Grand Prix, the exchange between Yuki tsunoda and Liam Lawson is now official since this Thursday morning. Christian Horner justified the decision to swap the positions of the two drivers.

Christian Horner, Team Principal and CEO of Red Bull Racing : « It was difficult to watch Liam struggle with the RB21 in the first two races and as a result we collectively made the decision to change quickly. We approached the 2025 season with two ambitions: to retain the Drivers' World Championship and regain the Constructors' World Title, and this is a purely sporting decision. We recognize that there is a lot of work to be done with the RB21, and Yuki's experience will prove very beneficial in helping to develop the current car. We welcome him to the team and look forward to seeing him behind the wheel of the RB21. We have a duty to protect and develop Liam, and together we see that after such a difficult start, it makes sense to act quickly so that Liam can gain experience as he continues his career in F1 with Visa Cash App Racing Bulls, an environment and a team he knows very well. »

"We have a duty to protect Liam," said Horner, what hypocrisy! On the other hand, there is no obligation to protect Yuki (on the contrary?) because he will no longer be in the Red Bull fold in 2026 following the end of the collaboration between Red Bull and Honda.
