Christian Horner: An exciting new dynamic.

The 2014 season marked a turning point in the history of Red Bull Racing. Stripped of her world crown by Mercedes and its W05 Hybrid single-seaters, it also lost its star driver Sebastian Vettel, winner of four world titles between 2010 and 2013 who left for Ferrari after a year and a shift from turbo/hybrid V6s complicated to negotiate. “It was without a doubt our worst pre-season, we were unreliable and uncompetitive, admits Christian Horner. But the turnaround in time for the Australian Grand Prix and the team's efforts throughout the rest of the season were exceptional. »

Among the satisfactions of the year, the Briton does not hide his admiration for Daniel Ricciardo. "I think he was the sensation of the year to be honest. The way he ran, his speed, his composure in the car, it's like he's always been at this level. I think he met all our expectations, including his own. » The Australian finished third in the Drivers' Championship with three wins (Canada, Hungary, Belgium), and remains the only one to have triumphed outside of Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg.

Horner is also looking towards 2015, with the start of a new dynamic for his team. “From a regulatory point of view, nothing is really going to change. It's up to the teams to try and catch up with Mercedes now and we have a lot of work in progress with Renault to try to reduce this gap. But they're not going to stop either. We have a new driver duo for next year with Daniel Ricciardo and Dany Kvyat and it will be an exciting new dynamic and they will attack very hard. We will see Sebastian in red which will be a bit strange for the first races. » The Team Principal recalled that Adrian Newey's involvement would remain important next season, despite the step back taken by the Milton Keynes wizard. “He oversaw the design of the new car and will come on certain races and he will be present at one of the pre-season sessions. He will divide his time between F1 and Red Bull Advanced Technologies. It's great to still have Adrian mentoring Dan Fallows, Rob Marshall, Pierre Wache and Paul Monaghan. We have a very strong technical team. »
