It is difficult to determine to what extent this action cost him time and what impact it may have had on his recovery on Charles Leclerc. But still the fact remains thatOscar piastri lost time as he chased the Monegasque to try to take back first place.

In this “race against time”, the pilot McLaren faced some elements on the track to come back on his counterpart of Ferrari. He first had to get rid of Carlos Sainz, even if it was not able to put up much resistance, and especially to get rid of the stragglers. Among them, Lance stroll. And according to the Aussie, crossing paths with the Canadian did not work in his favour, highlighting his attitude towards the blue flags.

« I immediately asked what pace I should adopt to catch up with Charles., he said. Basically, I had to have a similar rhythm to my first laps. (of the race). At that time I was quite optimistic..

[Most] I lost a lot of time behind Carlos. Stroll was driving like it was his first race. karting. I don't know what went through his mind when he saw the blue flag. It cost me another second. I needed that stint to be perfect to win that race and those little things are ultimately what cost us a little chance.. » Finally, 2“6 and a few more laps were missing for Oscar Piastri, who did not hide his frustration after the finish.

You always have to be wary of the only permanent contract on the grid, you don't really know what's going through his head... Piastri only has to ask his compatriot Dany Ric what he thinks about it from Shanghai!!!
