Four years have passed since his arrival at Ferrari and the perception that the paddock has of Carlos Sainz has changed enormously. To understand the shift that has taken place, it is indeed appropriate to recall the context in which the Spaniard arrived. After two years of an intense struggle between the young wolf Charles Leclerc and the four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel, Team understood that it had in its ranks a very talented young driver, already ready for tough battles, as his 2019 season in red had proven, with seven pole positions and two victories to his name.

The Smooth Operator has managed to reach a milestone within the Scuderia by becoming a multiple Grand Prix winner, even if he is also very quick to moan into his radio! That being said, he leaves the Reds on very good terms and thus does not insult the future.... especially since Sir Lewis is in his forties. In the meantime, while his image has certainly evolved positively, no Top Team has opened its doors to him and Williams Racing remains a default choice even if the stated objectives are clear.
