How McLaren can secure the Constructors' title in Qatar

A week after that of the Pilots, which fell into the hands of Max Verstappen for the fourth consecutive season, will the Constructors' title be awarded this weekend in Qatar? The chances are in any case real as McLaren has his first match point.

As the penultimate round of the campaign begins, the Woking team have a 608-point lead over Ferrari of 24 lengths (584) and Red Bull of 53 (555), while there are still a total of 103 points at stake, including 59 in Qatar since it is a Sprint weekend. So how could the English team put an end to the debates in the coming days to arrive in Abu Dhabi as a world champion team?

McLaren champion if…

For the Oranges to celebrate in turn on Sunday evening under the floodlights of the Losail circuit, only one scenario must be respected: they must score 21 points more than Ferrari over the entire weekend while not conceding more than 9 to Red Bull. Thus, by arriving with a lead of at least 45 points in Abu Dhabi, McLaren could no longer be caught, ending 26 years of drought.

On the other hand, if the English and the Italians remain 44 points apart, the title will be decided at the last Grand Prix of the season the following weekend because Ferrari could be crowned there, provided they have a clean sweep and McLaren scores zero points.
