During a meeting held yesterday, the F1 Commission reached agreements on numerous points to propose to the next World Council. New points scale and tire management are on the program.

F1 Commission: points and tires

Points scale
As previously announced, the Commission F1 will present to the World Council a new points scale aimed at better rewarding the winner.

1st: 25 points
2nd: 18 points
3nd: 15 points
4nd: 12 points
5nd: 10 points
6nd: 8 points
7nd: 6 points
8nd: 4 points
9nd: 2 points
10th: 1 point

Tires
The quantity of dry track tires has been reduced. From fourteen sets previously available, drivers will now only be able to count on eleven sets.

To encourage teams to race on Friday, one set of tires must be returned before the start of the second practice session and two other sets must be returned at the start of the third session.

Q3
To introduce a strategic concept, the cars qualified in Q3 must start the race with the tires used during the last part of qualifying.

New technologies
The F1 Commission has received a mandate from the FIA ​​President to introduce new environmental technologies into the championship.

Season 2011
The F1 Commission confirms its request for a ban on “double diffusers” in 2011. The height of the diffuser will be reduced from 175 to 125 mm.

All these measures will be proposed to the World Council for approval.
