Coronavirus – Azerbaijan Grand Prix postponed

The list of events postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic is growing. Barely recovered fromcancellation of the Monaco Grand Prix, F1 and his fans must endure the postponement of the first meeting of June: the Azerbaijan Grand Prix (June 5-7).

The calendar is deeply disrupted. Of the 22 rounds planned, eight of them have already been postponed and one canceled.  “The postponement of the event was decided in agreement with F1, the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) and the government of the Republic of Azerbaijan”, indicates the organizers' press release. If the race is postponed, it is however not canceled as explained in the text published this Monday March 23 at noon.

“We will continue to work closely with F1, the FIA and the Azeri government to monitor the situation (the evolution of the pandemic. Editor’s note) with the aim of announcing a new date later in the 2020 season.”

This implies a start to the season planned at best on the Gilles-Villeneuve circuit in Montreal for the Canadian Grand Prix (June 12-14).
