Cosworth reassures its customers

If the British engine manufacturer believed it could benefit from 2 rpm more than its competitors at the start of discussions, tensions between the FIA and FOTA got the better of this privilege. Cosworth, like the others, will have to make do with 000 rpm.

Today, while some players are talking about a crippling performance deficit for new entrants, Cosworth assures that its engine will be sufficiently efficient: “We started working early enough to be completely competitive. The new version of our engine will even have some big strengths. It will be less caloric and its consumption will be reduced,” explained Tim Routsis, boss of the Cosworth group.

The three new teams Campos, Manor and US GPE will use the Cosworth engine in 2010. The first block should be delivered in November.
