Coulthard: Toro Rosso will struggle to progress

Toro Rosso will have a lot to do in 2015 with Carlos Sainz Jr and Max Verstappen. THE Red Bull Junior Team has chosen to throw two of its protégés into the deep end. This decision, consistent with the role of trainer of the second Taureau Rouge team, is a daring bet since the Faenza team will have to develop its STR10 at the same time as its regular drivers, while the new regulations are only in place since a year.

David Coulthard shed light on Sky Sports the difficulties which risk slowing down the development of Toro Rosso. “Engineers and designers are looking to achieve the best package to develop the car, but it takes leadership behind the wheel.”, commented the former Red Bull driver. “There needs to be excellent understanding between the pilot and the aerodynamicist or chief engineer. With all due respect to young, inexperienced drivers, even if they have some in some areas, a crew would be better in many ways with an experienced driver and a rookie. But this is the format for Toro Rosso, it is a platform for young drivers to progress to the next level. »
