The Sprint Race concept does not cause as much spectacle as hoped by the leaders of the Formula 1, but the event contested on the Red Bull Ring (Austria) this Saturday, July 9, however, reserved a hell of a battle between the pilots of the Team Ferrari, Charles Leclerc et Carlos Sainz.

The Madrilenian tried twice to steal second place from his Monegasque teammate. The winner of the recent British Grand Prix did not appreciate his teammate's offensive driving, declaring by radio to his track engineer: “I thought the fight was ahead of us!” », in reference to their opponent's escape Max Verstappen in first place.

A few dozen minutes later, the Spaniard was smiling again when he received the medal for third position. “I had a good start, then I got involved in a few fights with Charles at turn 3. It was nice, it was fun, like what it should be! It was enjoyable competition. I probably overheated my tires while driving in Charles's wake. This forced me to slow down my pace. »

Carlos Sainz would like to worry Max Verstappen in the garden of his team sponsor Red Bull, but it won't be easy. “ We need to improve our pace in the race, because Max seemed better than us today at the start of the effort. Then we caught up with him somewhat. Tomorrow (Sunday) the race will be longer and we will use both types of rubber. Everything can happen. »
