CVC: Ecclestone's successor should be from outside Formula 1

Bernie Ecclestone was indicted in the Gribkowsky affair where he is accused of having paid large bribes (more than 33 million euros) to acquire the rights to the F1. If the BayernLB banker was sentenced to eight and a half years and a prison term, the latter indicted the director of the FOM. “Mr. E” defends himself by claiming to have been the victim of blackmail. Which does not seem to have convinced German justice.

A source from CVC Partners, the main owner of Formula 1, assured the Telegraph that the shareholders were not considering an immediate replacement for Bernie Ecclestone, but that the question was still being studied because of his advanced age, 82 years old. “The industry is too narrow to have a successor waiting. The latter should certainly come from outside. Our actions demonstrate our support for Bernie. The reality is that Bernie runs these things and he is much more involved than we are. We play an important role because we are the shareholders, but we do not follow the business on a daily basis. »
