D'Ambrosio: Talent and money

The Gravity driver had been aiming for a place with Virgin Racing since October but first had to raise the five million euros demanded by the British team. Once he achieved his goals, Jérôme D?Ambrosio conceded that if his talent obviously contributed to his tenure at Virgin, his financial support was also necessary for him to realize his dream.

“Of course there is talent, but there is also a commercial aspect,” admitted the Virgin pilot on RTL Belgium. “There are people, partners, who work with me in Belgium, like Gravity and Éric Boullier who continue to follow me. We managed to raise the amount we needed to be able to sign. »

But the Belgian has achieved his goal and is savoring the moment, while already thinking about aiming further. “I jumped like a kangaroo! », he remembered when he heard the news. ?It?s exceptional, extraordinary, but it?s not an end in itself, because you must now set new objectives. I plan to stay in F1 the longest time possible. I have dreamed of going to F1 since I was little, it became my goal from the age of 16. »

Jérôme D?Ambrosio plans to make the most of his first season at the highest level of the car to learn and gain as much experience as possible. “The most important thing is to focus on myself, learn something every time I'm on the track. I am happy to have Timo Glock, who has achieved several podiums in F1, by my side. It will be a very important experience for me. »
