Danica Patrick, too strong for USF1

Peter Windsor bluntly acknowledges that Danica Patrick, currently fifth in the standings Indycar Series, would have been an excellent driver of Formula 1. He doesn't understand why no F1 team gave the young woman a chance. “ She went to Europe, she did well in Formula Ford, Windsor told Sports Illustrated. Then she returned to America, where she had good results in Indycar. It could be argued that she is the first American driver (fifth in the Indycar standings, Danica Patrick is ahead of four non-American drivers, editor's note). However, no F1 team over the last three years has taken the trouble to offer him a test. I find this incredible. »

After such a plea, it seems obvious that the manager of the USF1 team holds the young woman from Wisconsin in high esteem. And why not offer him a seat within the American team which will debut in Formula 1 in 2010? “ To many people who ask us if we are interested in Danica Patrick, I answer that she is too “big” for us. She will probably head towards the Nascar, and will certainly be a hit there. Getting into Formula 1 at this stage of your career is a big commitment. She would have very high expectations. We will not fight for the world championship in our first year. »

Peter Windsor, if he cannot motivate drivers on the rise to join the new team, then concentrates on experienced drivers, before developing the reliability of the car, a factor that “ will be very important » for the American team.
