Daniel Ricciardo unbeatable in Monaco qualifying

Daniel Ricciardo (Red Bull) left his rivals no chance this Saturday afternoon in qualifying in the streets of the Principality of Monaco. Bombarded big favorite of the session, the Australian responded by completing a better lap in Q3 in 1'10 "810, new absolute circuit record.

If we expected competition from Max Verstappen, the Dutchman was unable to respond to his teammate, having been unable to start the session in Q1. His RB14 damaged in EL3 was still in his box during the first part of qualifying.

Verstappen will actually start last, with a new gearbox, replaced between FP3 and qualifying, also causing a penalty of five places under the regulations.

Hamilton close to surprising Ferrari

And behind Red Bull, logic dictated that the Ferraris should be the most energetic on the urban track. For a long time, Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) held second place but on his second attempt, Sebastian Vettel came to steal the first row from the Briton, while remaining more than two tenths behind Ricciardo.

Hamilton will ultimately start on the second row alongside Kimi Räikkönen (Ferrari). Next Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes), Esteban Ocon (Force India), excellent sixth, Fernando Alonso (McLaren), Carlos Sainz (Renault), Sergio Pérez (Force India) and Pierre Gasly (Toro Rosso).

Hulkenberg leads the rest of the peloton

Nico Hülkenberg (Renault) is the first driver to have failed to reach Q3 and will start in 11th position ahead of Stoffel Vandoorne (McLaren). Sergey Sirotkin (Williams) signs the 13th time ahead of the Monegasque Charles Leclerc (Sauber).

15th in Q2, Romain Grosjean (Haas) will finally start from 18th place, after observing his three-place penalty, following the accident on the first lap of the Spanish Grand Prix.

Brendon Hartley (Toro Rosso), Marcus Ericsson (Sauber), Lance stroll (Williams) and Kevin Magnussen (Haas) were eliminated in Q1 and follow in the standings ahead of Max Verstappen (Red Bull).

The Monaco Grand Prix will begin tomorrow at 15:10 p.m., and will be followed live on our website, via our live text.
