Daniel Ricciardo: “All the lights are green”

The fact that Red Bull Racing being in good spirits on the Hungarian turnstile in Budapest is not a surprise, but with the two best times of the sessions contested yesterday on the Hungaroring, Daniel Ricciardo could legitimately smile.

The Australian driver, winner on this track in 2014, particularly highlighted the improvements made by the Milton Keynes structure on the RB13 for this event. « I can't complain about such a day, underlines Ricciardo.

We've obviously made some developments here and they seem to be working, I definitely feel that we found grip in several areas and we have taken a step in the right direction. »

More than a one-lap performance

In addition to the speed and good performance of the RB13 chassis on the Hungaroring over one lap, Daniel Ricciardo highlighted the performances seen over an entire stint, an even more positive factor for Christian Horner's protégé.

“We know this track usually suits us, and it was important to extract everything we could from the car here and make sure the improvements work, allowing us to fight with the drivers at the front, explains the Australian.

Being at the top of the timesheet is always nice, but we also managed to replicate this pace on the long relays, which gives me confidence for the rest of the weekend ahead of qualifying. »

Si Mercedes seemed more withdrawn, the best reply came from Ferrari, but the Red Bull driver seems totally confident with the possibilities of his car. “Ferrari seemed to find a little more rhythm in the afternoon, but I always managed to stay ahead, so all the lights are green.

I'm sure the other teams will still find something on Saturday, but I also think we have a little more to bring as well. If we can put it all together, it could be a really positive qualification. I have a car that I'm comfortable with and I'm at a track that I love, it's going to be an exciting weekend. »
