Crowned GP3 Series champion with the MW Arden team, the young Daniil Kvyat signed with Toro Rosso for the 2014 season. A debutant in the premier category, the Russian arrives as brand new technical regulations come into force. “There will be some changes but I must say that one Formula 1 remains a Formula 1, admitted the protégé from Red Bull. On the one hand the new technical regulations will help me but on the other hand I will have to learn everything very quickly so it won't be a problem. The only thing will be to find better settings than the others,” he declared.
The 19-year-old young driver will team up with Frenchman Jean-Eric Vergne to replace Daniel Ricciardo. Kvyat took part in two free practice sessions during the last two rounds of the season and compared with the regular drivers. “It was good to finish two tenths behind Daniel in Austin because he is an experienced driver, rejoiced the Russian. Then in Brazil, our pace was good and even though I didn?t do many laps, I finished eighth so that?s really promising for the future,? he concluded
After an interesting start with the 2013 car, Daniil Kvyat will have to adapt to the new technical regulations including the arrival of the 1,6L turbo engine.
