Daniil Kvyat extends with Toro Rosso in 2017

We could be tempted to say that Daniil Kvyat can breathe: its future is assured with Toro Rosso for 2017. Full driver at Red Bull Racing at the start of the 2016 campaign, the young Russian was left out of Christian Horner's training in favor of the Dutchman Max Verstappen before the Barcelona Grand Prix, and “demoted” in the Red Bull hierarchy by returning to Toro Rosso, his team during the 2014 season.

Enough to place Kvyat in a delicate situation for his future, especially his results obtained against his teammate Carlos Sainz did not plead in his favor. The Russian even admitted to being very depressed during the summer, with rumors of a replacement in 2017 already on the horizon.

However, Toro Rosso did indeed confirm this Saturday that Daniil Kvyat would extend next year, still alongside Sainz, the team specifying in its press release: « for the teams who gravitated around our duo, hands off, they're staying with us! »

“In the last few races, it has been clear that Daniil is back in great shape,” emphasizes Franz Tost, Team Principal of Toro Rosso. I always told him that his future with us was in his hands and he raised his level and delivered the kind of performances that secured his place in 2017 in the STR 12. »

" It's good news, comments the main person concerned. I would like to thank Red Bull, Dr. Marko and the entire team for their support since I returned to this team earlier this year.

I am very happy to stay with a team where I feel at home. I'm really looking forward to continuing the work in 2017 and really want to aim high. I will always be fully committed, I will give 200%, and I will attack as hard as I usually do, that's for sure. I am delighted ! » Kvyat will also find the engine block Renault, which will replace the Power Unit Ferrari 2015 next year.

This information, on the other hand, closes an entry door into F1 for French Pierre Gasly, member of the Red Bull fold, and often placed as one of the potential replacements for Kvyat in the event of the Russian not being extended.
