Max Verstappen titled in Saudi Arabia if…

Get out the calculators! Two rounds from the end of this extraordinary season Formula 1, there are only 8 points difference between Max Verstappen (351,5 points), current championship leader, and Lewis Hamilton (343,5 points), winner of the last two Grand Prix (São Paulo and Qatar). During the next event which will be in Saudi Arabia, the Dutchman could win the Grail if several scenarios to his advantage are available to him.

The first mandatory condition is that the pilot Red Bull must finish in the first two places. Then, four scenarios can allow him to be crowned. If Max Verstappen wins the race with the fastest lap point and Lewis Hamilton finishes 6th or lower, the Dutchman will be champion. In the event that he does not pocket the point for the best lap, the Briton will have to finish in 7th place or below.

In the event that Jos Verstappen's son finishes in 2nd place with the fastest lap point, he will have to hope that Lewis Hamilton finishes in 10th place or below. And if the Dutchman finished in this same place but without having achieved the best lap, he will only be titled if Lewis Hamilton finishes outside the points zone. In these last two cases, the drivers would find themselves with a 26-point gap. It would take the seven-time world champion to win the round in Abu Dhabi with the point for the fastest lap and Max Verstappen to score no points and the two drivers would be perfectly tied at the end of the season.

In this very uncertain season, it is impossible to bet in advance what will really happen in Saudi Arabia. One thing is certain, despite the current trend, Max Verstappen still has his destiny in his hands.
