David Coulthard elected head of BRDC

The British Drivers' Racing Club (BRDC) has a new president. David Coulthard, winner of 13 Grands Prix and author of 62 podiums in 246 starts with Williams, McLaren, and Red Bull, was elected last Tuesday at the head of an institution of which he has been a member since 1989 and his title in the British Formula Ford championship.

The Scot succeeds Paddy Hopkirk, who has served as president of the BRDC since 2017. Coulthard will have as vice-president one of his compatriots in the person of Dario Franchitti, three-time winner of the Indianapolis 500 and four-time champion IndyCar

« With David we are convinced that we have not only a very talented and experienced driver but also a savvy businessman who enjoys an extensive network of contacts in motorsport, commented John Grant, director of the BRDC. His great experience will prove very useful for the Club ».

Since ending his career at the end of 2008, Coulthard has successfully moved into business, notably motorsport TV production and commentary. He is also an ambassador for the W Series, a single-seater championship 100% reserved for women, the first season of which ended last August.
