Rehabilitation program begins for Bianchi

Since October 5, Jules Bianchi keep fighting. Victim of a terrible accident during of the 42nd round of the Japanese Grand Prix (the Marussia driver had hit a lifting machine in the process of evacuating the car of the German Adrian Sutil), the 25-year-old from Nice had been hospitalized and operated initially at the Mie General Medical Center in Yokkaichi where she was diagnosed diffuse axonal injury. Out of artificial coma in which he had been immersed, the Frenchman had been repatriated to France in Nice (Alpes-Maritimes) on November 19. This Tuesday, his family wanted to publish a new press release where we can see that Jules is today treated in rehabilitation center.

"As we come to the conclusion of a difficult year for our family, we wanted to take this opportunity to provide a further update regarding Jules' medical situation, through our commitment to communicating ongoing information, when this is appropriate, to his many fans. It was an important and very comforting step for us to be able to repatriate Jules to France last month, to continue his rehabilitation, surrounded by his family and friends. It’s very important for Jules and also for us.

Since then, Jules has received the best treatment in the intensive care unit of the Nice University Hospital Center (CHU) and now in the CHU rehabilitation center for this type of trauma. Jules' neurological condition remains unchanged. He is unconscious, but is able to breathe without assistance. While there is no significant information to report, we take great comfort in the fact that Jules continues to fight, because we know he would, and that allowed the professionals caring for him to begin the already planned, but very difficult, rehabilitation therapy program.

As we reflect on the events of the past few months, we would like to once again thank the warmth and affection shown to our son. These are always difficult times for our family, but knowing that he touched the lives of so many people around the world is helping us get through this. We would also like to acknowledge the respect and support shown by the media towards our family, for which we are extremely grateful.

We will continue to provide information where possible and our sincere thanks to all who continue to pray for Jules. »
