Death of François Guiter

From the 70s, France will put its stamp on the F1. And the Elf sector will be one of the reasons. Initiated by François Guiter to raise awareness of the brand new company created at the end of the 60s, the brand's sports program has seen many great French champions such as François Cevert, Jean-Pierre Jabouille, Jacques Laffite, Didier Pironi and the most famous among them Alain Prost. The Scotsman Jackie Stewart, at the Matra era, will also remain one of the great figures of Elf.

But François Guiter will not confine himself to the simple detection of pilots, and will establish the tricolor tanker as one of the flagship sponsors of the time. Matra, but also Tyrrell or Renault have all affixed the famous logo to their single-seaters. F1 will not be the only discipline where the firm will be present, also integrating the world of rally or motorcycle.

François Guiter died at the age of 86. The entire AUTOhebdo editorial team presents its sincere condolences to his family.
