Discover the special helmets for the 1th Grand Prix

The most daring are undoubtedly the pilots Renault. Nico Hulkenberg et Daniel Ricciardo are into vintage thanks to their designer Jens Munser (also responsible for the design of Sebastian Vettel et Michael Schumacher previously). The German took over the old Renault logos, Schuberth (helmet manufacturer) and JMD (designer).

This diamond emblem on a yellow background appeared for the first time in 1946. It is also with this logo that yellow officially became the emblematic color of the French manufacturer.

Several details smack of craftsmanship: the sponsor Mapfre is written using a roughly cut black adhesive tape while the lines, the “HULK” and the “27” are written in a haphazard way, “as if it had been painted freehand” explains the designer.

Daniel Ricciardo's helmet is much more sober than his usual helm. The Australian pays homage to his compatriot Jack Brabham, by using his simplistic decor (gray and thin black stripe, with the name on the sides). Note gravel impacts, common in the 1960s and reproduced above the visor of the ex-pilot Red Bull

The son of three-time F1 world champion, David Brabham, praised this delicate attention on his Twitter account. “I think Jack would have greatly appreciated this tribute, thank you Daniel Ricciardo and Renault. »

At Ferrari, the French Adrien Paviot has concocted a red chrome helmet for Charles Leclerc

The French designer also retouched the helmet of Pierre Gasly at Red Bull. The classic red gives way to a kind of defragmented red, with inserts of golden glitter

On the side of Haas, Adrien Paviot replaced the flashy colors of Romain Grosjean with pearly white, for a sober and classy result.

Lando Norris (McLaren) proudly displays the number 1 on one side of the helmet, on a background covered in the shape of the Shanghai circuit.

The Thai Alexander albon (Toro Rosso) inserted two images of Prince Bira on the top of his helmet. Real name Birabongse Bhanutej Bhanubandh, he raced in F1 in the early 1950s.

Finally, Juan Pablo Montoya is back on the grid… finally, his helmet! George Russell (Williams) took over the Colombian's colorful design during his victories with Williams in the early 2000s. However, it was not the successes of "JPM" that motivated the Englishman.

“My very first helmet karting was an exact copy of my older brother's helmet in 2006. It wasn't until eight years later that I realized its design was inspired by the legend Juan Pablo Montoya! », explains the Englishman.
