Decryption – Why did F1 finally accept the arrival of General Motors as the 11th team in 2026?

While the case had been at an impasse since January, General Motors - via Cadillac - was finally granted entry into F1 from 2026 as the 11th team... without the Andretti name. A turnaround that would have been completely improbable just several weeks ago.

"the opening, by the American Department of Justice (DoJ), of an investigation into the monopoly position of Liberty Media" with possibly several hundred million dollars in fines the key, here it is the main (the only?) reason for this 'acceleration' Knowing that in the motivations for the refusal there was the fact that they did not have their own engine and that there 12 months before their arrival they do not have one at all! what a farce. As for announcing an engine for 2028, just for 3 seasons? because the new engine regulations go from 26 to 30 inclusive, right? or is an episode missing?
