And as far as I can remember, we have never seen a driver win his first victory(s) and the title in the same year (apart from Rosberg in 82 in a particular context). These are two different stages in a career. Norris now knows that he can win and he must prepare to play for a world title next season. So the statistics are against him but they are made to be contradicted, that's what we wish for him...

Verstappen only needs to take points from Norris once to put himself almost out of reach. The problem is that Red Bull is sometimes not even able to get close to the podium, and MV's lead can drop to around twenty points in two races. But even then, the advantage will remain in the Dutchman's camp. Norris could be in a much more threatening position without McLaren's hesitations. If Verstappen scores a fourth consecutive title, he will owe it almost more to McLaren than to his own team.
