Red Bulls too slow and in difficulty at Silverstone

Red Bull performed in the Austrian hills last week ; seven days later, the energy drink stable dropped a tone. On the Silverstone circuit (Great Britain), Daniel Ricciardo et Max Verstappen finished off the podium.

However, both men tried to interfere in the fight between the Ferrari and Mercedes. Largely behind the leaders during most of the Grand Prix, the Australian-Dutch duo was able to catch up with the leading group thanks to the two safety car neutralizations.

“The restarts were intense, certifies Daniel Ricciardo, who finished fifth. We just didn't have enough speed and behind the Ferraris and Mercedes we were too slow. » The winner of the last Monaco Grand Prix lost big when the team brought him back into the pits for a second stop, just before a Safety Car.

“We were unlucky. Although I tried to overtake Valtteri (Bottas) who was having difficulty with the tires, but as soon as I got closer, I lost a lot of downforce. It was as if my tires had the same deterioration as his! »

Daniel Ricciardo wanted to register at least one victory by the end of July ; he has one more attempt, near Hockenheim (Germany, July 20-22). « Since Monaco, things have not gone as we hoped. I don't want this victory to remain the last joy to date. »

His teammate Max Verstappen did not see the arrival. The young driver (20 years old) fought a good battle with Kimi Räikkönen (Ferrari), shortly before a rear brake problem (brake-by-wire) forced the RB14 to stop. “At turn 13, the pedal literally went to the floor, the rear brakes locked up and I spun. »

This mechanical problem should not hide Red Bull's other concern according to Max Verstappen: the lack of power of the block Renault. « We were too slow on the straights. When we had DRS, our speed was identical to cars that didn't have it! »
