Positive feelings for Esteban Ocon

With 86 laps on the clock at the end of this second day of driving in Catalonia, Esteban Ocon can be delighted for his first outing with the Force India VJM10. The Frenchman was only slowed in his progress by an oil leak at the end of the morning, forcing the former GP3 Series champion to stop on the track, and causing a red flag.

“It didn't cost us much time and I'm happy with the number of laps we covered, believes Ocon. It was a very pleasant first day in the VJM10. It's only the beginning of course, but the initial feelings are positive and we have found a good direction for the car's settings.

I hope we make similar progress tomorrow and the day after tomorrow. This was my first experience of the new generation cars and I have to say, they are beasts. High speed corners are very impressive and there are big gains in low speed corners, it's a good step forward. »

Esteban Ocon was also able to familiarize himself with the new Pirelli compounds, passing the super-softs, softs and mediums this Tuesday on track, completing his best performance in 1'22"509 with the softest train.

However, the Frenchman will only return to the VJM10 on Thursday, alternating with Sergio Pérez, with tomorrow's day reserved for reserve driver Alfonso Celis Jr.
