Di Montezemolo: Ferrari was lucky

Luca di Montezemolo, the former president of Ferrari and now non-executive chairman of the airline Alitalia, believes that the renewed performance experienced this season by the Team is partly explained by the absence of real opposition in the field among the rival teams of Mercedes.

“I honestly think they were a bit lucky. They have no opponents this year, except Mercedes.", declared the Italian businessman who was fired last year in an interview with La Repubblica.

Luke of Montezemolo also confirmed that Red Bull considered leaving F1 while the stable of Milton Keynes crosses an empty passage. « Williams failed to progress and Red Bull imploded. I know Mateschitz (the president of Red Bull) is thinking about selling. He told a mutual friend: “ Either I persuade Audi to come, or I leave ". With McLaren in a terrible crisis, Ferrari can achieve a podium in every race”, added the Italian.
