The Bahrain weekend, the scene of the second round of Formula 2 (April 11-13), will be a busy one for Dino Beganovic. Alongside his F2 commitment with Hitech GP, the Swede will take part in the first free practice session in Formula 1 under the colors of Ferrari, of which he has been a member of the academy since 2020.
A big first for him, as this will be his first experience behind the wheel of a Ferrari during an official session. During these Free Practice 1, the Swede will replace Charles Leclerc driving the SF-25.

This appointment is in line with the FIA's policy, which now requires teams to run drivers with fewer than two Grand Prix starts at least twice a season per car. This figure has doubled compared to last year, when teams had to replace their regular drivers for at least one session.
Dino Beganovic thus becomes the fifth driver from the Ferrari Driver Academy to drive a car of Maranello during an official session. He joins Charles and Arthur Leclerc, Oliver Bearman and Robert Shwartzman. In the process, he will be the second Swede in history to drive for the Prancing Horse after Stefan Johansson. The latter wore the Scuderia's colors from 1985 to 1986, totaling 6 podiums in 31 starts.
Dino Beganovic is the second driver to be confirmed for a free practice session after Ryo Hirakawa who will contest FP1 of the Japanese Grand Prix (April 4-6) with Alpine.

At least whoever might be Ronnie Peterson's successor will be able to start in F1 in a much more benevolent environment than if he were part of the Red Bull network!
