Domenicali: Ferrari must be patient with Alonso

Scuderia Ferrari has suffered in recent years in the face of Red Bull who has won the last three Drivers' and Manufacturers' titles and is set to continue the series this season. The setback is hard for the team Maranello who thought they had hit the jackpot by hiring Fernando Alonso from 2010. The potential of the double world champion is not in question since he almost beat his German rival last year, but the wait is long for fans.

“We are Latin and we are impatient”, commented Stefano Domenicali in AS. “I was at Ferrari in 1993 and even before. We only won with Michael Schumacher only in 2000 although he arrived with us in 1996. I am 100% sure that we will fight for the title next year. We need to see the results from another angle. The history between Fernando and Ferrari so far has consisted of two Championships lost in the last race. If we had won at least one of them, the story would have been fantastic. We must therefore remain rational, but the Italians and the Spanish are 0 or 0,5%. »

The Scuderia Ferrari Team Principal also spoke about the skills of Sebastian Vettel often compared to its Spanish rival. The Italian seems to have his point of view on the question of what proportion of the performance of the car in the results obtained by the Milton Keynes team. “He’s a superb driver, there’s no doubt about that”, recognizes Stefano Domenicali when talking about the triple world champion. “He's grown tremendously over the last few years, just look at his teammate (Mark Webber). But with all due respect, he was able to fully exploit a car that is faster than ours, and that means a lot. »
