Domenicali: F1 must evolve to interest Lamborghini

Stefano Domenicali liked to imagine an arrival of Lamborghini in F1. Today at the head of the Italian manufacturer after having been director of Team Ferrari between 2008 and 2014, the CEO of the Taurus brand retained his love for the discipline.

“You mention something that touches me deeply, recognized Stefano Domenicali in an interview with AS. I want to be very honest with you. We have other priorities today, but who knows tomorrow? Motorsport has always been part of Lamborghini and, if F1 evolves and I see that we have the strengths as a company, why not? »

Stefano Domenicali will certainly follow with interest the plans developed by Liberty Media, the new buyers of F1 to relaunch the discipline.

“It could happen in the future, but the costs necessary not only to register but to be competitive are far from suitable for us, underlined the Italian. If we notice significant changes in this area, we will take this into consideration. »

Lamborghini was entered in 6 Grands Prix during the 1991 season with the best result being a 7th place won by Nicola Larini at the US GP in Phoenix (Arizona). The Italian brand is currently present in particular in GT3 with its Huracan and in the one-make Super Trofeo Championship.
