Dr. Marko: Audi has other concerns than F1

Dr. Helmut Marko returned to Servus TV, an Austrian TV channel owned by Red BullOn the comments he allegedly gave to the BBC. The director of the Red Bull Junior Team would have indicated that the Red Bull would leave the F1 if it didn't soon have a competitive engine benefiting from an alliance with Audi. These statements had a significant echo in the paddock following the threats made by the big boss of the brand Dietrich Mateschitz.

The advisor of Red Bull has denied outright having made such comments and is even confident about the team's current alliance with Renault. “This is based on an interview that was completely distorted”, explained the Austrian. “It started with a personal opinion given by Gerhard Berger who felt that Red Bull and Audi should join forces and I quoted him. But we have a contract with Renault valid until 2016. We are in a difficult situation and we can only get out of it by working together. »

Audi nevertheless seems to be interested in a possible commitment to F1 even if the words of Rupert Stadler, the chairman of the board of management of Audi AG, suggest that this remains at the study stage at present. « Audi has had no official discussions with us or anyone else. I think that the Volkswagen Group (on which Audi depends) has other problems to manage than taking care of F1., insisted Dr. Helmut Marko.
