Dr. Marko: “Nothing is settled at the moment”

The announcement of the future engine manufacturer Red Bull Racing is still waiting while the Team Principal Christian Horner announced yesterday that an agreement had been reached and that it would be “announced in the coming days”.

Dr. Helmut Marko, Red Bull advisor in charge of the young driver program, nevertheless said the official F1 website that nothing had been signed yet. “Nothing is settled at the moment… A decision should be made this weekend, Saturday evening or Sunday. There is still one day left to negotiate! We are passengers, we cannot influence what is happening at the moment. This is a very disappointing situation given our investments in the discipline”, declared the Austrian.

Red Bull above all seems to want the transition to a new engine which could put an end to the supremacy of Mercedes experienced since last year.

“Manufacturers are invited to present a proposal on January 15 on the evolution of the engine. We had a meeting this Saturday morning and it seems that a new engine is planned for 2018. It would above all be available to everyone, it would have 1000 hp or more, it would be much cheaper and would have less electronics so that the driver is now a force that counts, and not the engineers on the pit wall”, added Dr. Helmut Marko.
