Dupasquier: young people will wonder why an F1 makes so much noise

Pierre Dupasquier was invited to the Carpooling of the week, in AUTO n°2163hebdo, to evoke his memories in F1 when he was competition director at Michelin.

The French engineer also spoke about the current situation of the discipline and its future at a time when technology is turning towards electricity and where Formula e expands.

“Young people are of another register, declared Pierre Dupasquier when discussing the future of F1 with the development of the Electric Single-Seater Championship. Game consoles get them used to something different, as do hybrid and electric cars on a daily basis. They will end up wondering why an F1 makes so much noise! These kids that mothers bring to school Renault Zoé, at 78 km/h when it is limited to 80 km/h, will never know that we were able to do Clermont-Paris in less than 3 hours, and will accept that an F1 does not make any noise. »

The former Bibendum competition director was also invited to comment on current technologies present in F1.

“Yes (this hybrid and restricted F1 pleases). What would an F1 be like with one-make tires, transmission and engine, aero and electronics imposed? No one would understand the reason for this oxcart at a time when the road car has all the electronic niceties…”, explained the Frenchman.
