Ecclestone has other arguments against the V6 in F1

Bernie Ecclestone has never been in favor of the arrival of the 6l V1.6 turbo-hybrid. The financier of the F1 has always been concerned about the noise that this new engine would create for spectators, but the director of the FOM is now putting forward another argument which is increasingly being put forward in discussions in the paddock. Costs risk spiraling out of control if engine manufacturers engage in a development battle.

“The danger is that one of the three (four in 2015 with Honda) takes the wrong path. Whoever they are, it’s going to cost a fortune to make up for it.”, commented Bernie Ecclestone to the Reuters agency. “Plus, the others will have progressed as well. For the moment, everything is going well. The risk is that the three engine manufacturers think they have the right engine. When reality catches up with them, it will already be too late. These are unnecessary costs because what we had was perfect. »
