Ecclestone will not launch a parallel championship

The withdrawal of the F1 by Bernie Ecclestone, since replaced by Chase Carey following the purchase of commercial rights by Liberty Media, was enough to launch speculations suggesting the creation of a parallel championship by the former financier of the discipline.

In a press release published by Reuters, Bernie Ecclestone strongly denied these rumors, ensuring that he wanted the discipline to continue.

“I would like to come back to these rumors which claim that I want to launch a discipline competing with F1. I have built this Championship for almost half a century, which I am proud of, and damaging it in difficulty is the last thing I want. »

“The new owner of the company will be able to manage the administration in a different way to me, in order to achieve financial results for shareholders, which is usually what an executive director does. I hope F1 fans will appreciate Chase investing money into the sport. »
