Bernie Ecclestone affirmed in the paddock of the Bahrain GP that the holding of the European GP in Azerbaijan scheduled for 2016 posed no problem. This Caucasian country, however, faces strong criticism concerning respect for human rights likely to be violated, notably with the arrest of political opponents.
Azerbaijan is not the first country to face criticism of its policies in the international community even though it is on the discipline's calendar. But Mr. E, cited by Reuters, remains inflexible. « Baku? No problem, it will be another good event… Everyone seems happy, I don’t see any big problems there”, replied Bernie Ecclestone in the paddock of the Bahrain GP who had to cancel his event in 2011 following the political tensions which have been agitating the country for several years.
Bernie Ecclestone was also asked about the disappearance of legendary events.
