Ecclestone dreams of a more competitive season

With 12 victories in 19 Grands Prix for Red Bull Racing including 11 won by Sebastian Vettel, the 2011 season did not hold much suspense as the domination of Red Bull Racing was evident with the RB7. There Team Ferrari failed to reach a level since it only scored one victory at Silverstone with Fernando Alonso. Alone McLaren managed to respond to the Austrian team six times. If the regulations change little this year, Bernie Ecclestone still hopes to have a more competitive Championship and is firmly awaiting a wake-up call from the other teams, including Mercedes.

“I hope Vettel and Red Bull don’t dominate as much anymore, but they are on top at the moment”, admitted the financier of the F1 at the Salzburger Nachrichten. “I would prefer to see a fight for the Championship that lasts until the end of the season. However, viewers are more focused on the intensity of the race than on the Championship. I would be surprised if Mercedes doesn't win a race this year. Button was a real surprise at McLaren because he was ahead of Hamilton. As for Ferrari, I can only hope for a significant improvement. Alonso is really talented and he should have a car perfect. »
