Ecclestone denies cheating

This week, the German press revealed a dark affair : a banker named Gerhard Gribkowsky would have received the sum of 50 million dollars (38 million euros) to ensure Bernie Ecclestone his place as representative of CVC Capital Partners, the company holding the commercial rights of the F1. Today, “Mister E.” defends himself.

“What the German press is reporting is absolutely false, it’s absurd,” he said for the Bild newspaper. I didn't corrupt it. I had nothing to do with these payments to Gribkowsky. I don't see why I would have given him money, knowing that he was on my side in the negotiations. I didn't need to convince him. »

Bernie Ecclestone also assures that CVC, which owns the rights to F1, did not pay a bribe to Gerhard Gribkowky. “If CVC tells you that they have nothing to do with the distribution of these sums, you can be sure that they are telling the truth. I can assure you. If the German newspapers say that I had anything to do with these payments, I will sue them. »
