Ecclestone still critical of Power Units

The V6 turbo / hybrid remains in Bernie Ecclestone's crosshairs. The Briton spoke in the columns of Autosprint and once again criticizes the new Power Units which now reign in F1 since last year, having allowed Mercedes to take power.

“Today we have a discipline where the engines are the most important parameter. I don't think F1 should have such complex engines. These blocks are too expensive and do not help Formula One, in many ways. There would be the possibility of using different engines, less expensive but with the same performance, but the manufacturers do not want this. » explains Mr E.

These statements follow directly from the last meeting of the Strategic Group last week, which issued several proposals including an increase in the current speeds of the Power Units and amplified noise with a view to 2017. On the other hand, stability should be required regarding the type of motor used, therefore going against Bernie Ecclestone's vision.
