Editorial – Traction control

IPPD

The patina of pilotingAlonso is not artificial and in no way altered by the passage of time. The Spaniard continues to strip the grid F1 by the acidity of his driving style and his career choices. No angelism on our part, no one is giving each other gifts in the paddock, everyone is only aiming for their personal performance. It is also a relatively healthy state of mind at this level of competition, mediocrity having no place. Some will mourn the lack of kindness, others will praise the constant sharpening of these fine knives to remain sharp.

In fact, the double world champion was on his third experience at enstone, and therefore his second career rescue after so many disastrous episodes at McLaren. Proof that the boy likes to bite the hand that feeds him. No matter, everyone has found what they're looking for and must capitalize on the chance of these shared experiences to get back on their feet. A divorce is rarely elegant. Such is life.

In our edition of May 4, we headlined on the cover “ The bulky Mr. Alonso ". The harsh comments were numerous, but anyone who had already spent a little time in the paddock understood that the subject would quickly become thorny: efficient, expensive, centered ego (like any good self-respecting sportsman), the Spaniard would arouse envy on the market, take advantage of it to raise the stakes… and soap up a few boards to probe the depth of its attractiveness. Only the naive will continue to think that Sebastian Vettel had the choice to retire. No, it was Alonso who pushed him towards the exit thanks to a cleverly orchestrated lobbying campaign withAston Martin. Here again, it’s the game: “ eat before being eaten ". And The Spaniard still has the fangs.

The law of the F1 jungle is merciless, and Alonso wasn't going to risk being prey for the clan Piastres. He drew the first one and, in a sense, made way for the Australian in 2023. But be careful: one train can hide another. If, according to our information, an Australian should indeed drive theAlpine next season, it would be more named Daniel Ricciardo. Hey, another acquaintance of the group Renault. The opening of a second wedding often cracks more quickly, be careful.
