FP1: Fernando Alonso gets back to work

La F1 made its return this Friday morning with the first Free Practice for the Belgian Grand Prix. If the first 45 minutes were rather calm, the drivers not daring to measure themselves too much against the intermediate conditions of the track, things got a little excited when the asphalt began to dry. In this context, Fernando Alonso and Ferrari F138 set the best time in 1:55:198 ahead of the two Force Indias of Paul di Resta, at 0”026, and Adrian Sutil, at 0”175.

Behind them, Sergio Pérez, Nico Rosberg, Sebastian Vettel, Esteban Gutierrez, Nico Hulkenberg, Daniel Ricciardo et Valtteri Bottas complete the top 10.

Among the French, Jean-Eric Vergne concluded the session in 13th place, Jules Bianchi in 20th and Romain Grosjean in 22nd and last position. Note that Charles Pic did not ride to make way for Heikki Kovalainen. The Drômois will return to his Caterham this afternoon. Note that the Lotuses drove very little after encountering a problem with their wheel mountings. Unable to express themselves in the dry, they finished with the last two times of the session.

Meet at 13:45 p.m. for the second Free Practice session of the Spa-Francorchamps Grand Prix, to be followed live on AUTOhebdo.fr.
