EL1 – The Mercedes announce the color at Silverstone

Move around, there's not much to see! This was the leitmotif of the team Mercedes this Friday August 7 in Silverstone (Great Britain) on the occasion of the first free practice session for the 70th anniversary Grand Prix of the Formula 1.

We only had to wait around thirty minutes before seeing the black cars at the top of the timesheet. While all the competitors were using soft tires (red sidewalls), Valtteri Bottas showed himself to be the fastest, in front of his teammate Lewis Hamilton.

In one week, the Finn drove 1”3 faster on the English track, in similar conditions (good weather, heat)! Max Verstappen (Red Bull) sticks out his tongue and is more than seven tenths behind.

The nice surprise of these training sessions is located in the Racing Point garage. Nico Hulkenberg, confirmed in his seat while Sergio Pérez remains positive for Covid-19, was more comfortable in the pink car. He sets the fourth time, far ahead Lance stroll (8th); teammates are separated by half a second.

La Team Ferrari doesn't seem to be performing any better compared to last week. Charles Leclerc preserves his influence over his classmate Sebastian Vettel ; the German is relegated to more than a second! 

The first Frenchman classified is Esteban Ocon, 10th on his Renault. He is ahead Pierre Gasly (Alpha Tauri). Romain Grosjean confirms the progress seen in the race last Sunday with the 13th fastest time, while his teammate Kevin Magnussen (last) encountered mechanical problems. 

Robert Kubica (Alfa Romeo) took advantage of his test session in the mount reserved for Antonio Giovinazzi to achieve the 19th performance.
